Myths Debunked with Titan Eaton Detroit TrueTrac install on Nissan Titans that have factory installed E-Locker

2004-2007 Nissan Titan Eaton Detroit TrueTrac installs. These are facts.

If you have a Nissan Titan open differential, The TrueTrac is drop in install. No issues.

If you have a Nissan Titan E-Locker differential and want to run a Truetrac in place of the E-Locker see below:

In order for the TrueTrac to work properly, you would need to replace BOTH axles with axles from a non e-locker differential.

You can also modify your existing axles by lengthening the splines on the shaft by 3/4".

The non e-locker differential axles are both 34.03" long, which is what you need for full spline engagement on the TrueTrac.

The e-locker axles are 33.36" and 34.24”. Which means the driver side is too short and would only have 5/8"" of engagement. The Passenger side axle is too long, and NOT enough spline length, so even if you cut the axle 1/4" and lose spline engagement, your splines would bind/bottom out and you will burn up the bearings on that side.

There are lots of myths on all the forums on getting this to work:

Myth#1: Swap axles, driver to passenger, and passenger to drive.
Fact: WILL NOT WORK. The Truetrac is designed for a open differential with equal length 34.03" axles. Swapping does NOTHING.

Myth#2: Just cut the axle 1/4"
Fact: Wrong. Not only do you lose spline engagement, you will bottom out the splines and overheat the bearings.

Myth#3: Just shim out the passenger side axle.
Fact: This may work, but is not recommended for various reasons, AND, your driver side axle is still way too short.
